Clarksdale is a city located in Coahoma County, Mississippi, United States. It is situated in the northwestern part of the state, approximately 70 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee. Clarksdale is known for its association with the blues music genre and is often referred to as the "Birthplace of the Blues." The city has several historic sites and landmarks related to the blues, including the Delta Blues Museum, the Clarksdale Station railroad depot, and the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival. The city is also the home of the Coahoma County Agricultural High School and was once an important center of cotton production. Clarksdale's population is approximately 15,000 people, according to the most recent census.
